sculptures

My current work explores the artistic practice through a process of invention and engineering. Each mechanical sculpture is fabricated so that the machine’s parts are choreographed to create a drawing.  By allowing the machine to emulate the artist’s hands, the machine also becomes the creator of art. The repetitive motions appear predictable but over time the imperfections lead to original drawings that archive the passage of time. The resulting drawings are the product of a sophisticated collaboration between artist and invention that emphasize the act of creating.
